What a waste of my life watching this movie. For some reason i thought it would be scary but it was very lacking in that category.

The opening sequence of the movie sets you up to think that it will be some horror beyond horrors. The vision of a burning child and mother would leave a horrid feeling in the pit of anyone’s gut. However I believe that was only a ploy. Pretty much from the opening sequence to the rolling credits this movie gets progressively worse.

It seems pretentious of the writer and director not to give their audience enough credit. A transparent script and weak story line leave much to be desired. Their attempt to be cryptic just seems as if it is a mash up of unrelated themes, that they blend together in the final scene at an attempt to make themselves seem ingenious. As if this overly vague build up to nothing remotely WOW who would have thought factor-esk were the plan all along.

The movie drags, and pulls from all over the place to explain why 11-11-11 was important enough to build a film around. Perhaps a better writing staff or a better director would have given this movie something more. Yet there was not and it left the movie with nothing.

As not to spoil it for you (thought on its own it reeks of rancid 4 month old milk that has been sunbathing). I will not reveal the lack of a plot. I will however save you some time and just suggest not viewing this movie at all. Its not worth the 90 minutes of your life that will be wasted.

I wish i could get my 90 minutes back!!!!

Beastly: Beauty and the Beast for 2011

When i first read the reviews on Beastly i pretty much had my mind made up that it was goin to suck. 

But often in life you get a pleasant surprise. I mean really how badly could anyone possibly screw the story of Beauty and the Beast up.

Though i dont usually do things backwards i.e watching a movie before ive read the book i did this time. (Beastly is loosely based on Alex Flinn’s 2007 novel of the same name) Which leads me to believe that the book will be pretty awesome.

I like the new age twist on an old tale. Tattoos vs Fur, yet they still managed to work in the element of the rose. A maid and tutor vs the talking kitchen utensils. Unknown origin vs a father who values outward appearance more than actual love and concern for his child.

Like i said the twists are nice. The movie flows rather well and as for new comer Alex Pettyfer hims (a) sexy (beast). Vanessa Hudgens performance was like all her others nothing really special but it didnt suck. The highlight of the film would be the comic relief provided by Neil Patrick Harris as the blind tutor. I dont want to tell you to much about the film it would literally ruin it for you (only cause its not going to be what you think you should expect). 

Out of 5 stars i would rate this movie a 2.5 not a run out and rent it film, but if you catch it on one of the movie channels its worth taking the 86 min runtime to sit down and watch it. 

So grab a soothing bowl of ice cream and be prepared to awww and laugh a little. There are worse things a night in could bring!
